Update coming for OlgaKay app.

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Earlier today it was reported to us that in our current version of the OlgaKay app, you are unable to save tab-bar customizations.  We have located the source of the issue, repaired it, and have submitted an update to Apple that resolves this issue.

As soon as this update is approved, it will be available for download in the app store.

As always, thank you to our loyal fans who take the time to report these issues to us.  We do our best to repair issues as soon as possible.

iJustine’s Website Feed is Down

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

You may have noticed that when you load the Unofficial iJustine app, the Mobile tab is reporting an error. This tab works by reading the WordPress feed on iJustine’s site (not the feedburner feed). For some reason, the wordpress feed is reporting an error. Until this error is resolved, the mobile tab will not function.

The workaround is to use the “Web” tab. In the default configuration, the Web tab is located on the more tab. Of course, remember that you can always edit which buttons show up on the main tab bar by using the Edit function from the more screen.

Because we do not have a quick way to contact iJustine (other than her super busy public contact mechanisms) – we can not provide an ETA for when this will be repaired.

When the feed is back up and running, we will post again on this blog. Thanks for using our apps!

TypeCam 1.3 released

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

The new version of TypeCam we mentioned a few days ago has now been approved and is available in the app store.  This new version repairs some of the issues iOS 4.3 users have experienced with incorrect camera positioning and keyboard malfunctions.

We apologize for the delay in releasing this fix.  These particular errors were caused by bugs that were introduced in the latest version of iOS.  We were hoping that Apple would address them rather than having to code workarounds in our apps, but that did not happen in 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 incremental updates.

We appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy this latest release.  As always, if you have any questions, concerns, bugs, or isuses to report – please do not hesitate to contact us via e-mail or via twitter – @geekutils.

TypeCam Update is on the way.

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Unfortunately, when Apple released iOS 4.3, a bug was introduced into the SDK responsible for controlling the camera.  This bug creates an issue in our TypeCam code with respect to scaling and shifting the camera.  Many of you have reported this issue to us, and we thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Our policy, traditionally, is to not alter our code if the bug is caused by the underlying development tools and not our codebase as in this case.  Unfortunately, we have reported the bug to Apple and despite the release of iOS 4.3.1 and 4.3.2 – the bug still exists.  Keep in mind, this bug does not just affect TypeCam, it affects any application which needs to manipulate the position of the camera viewport.

Since so much time has passed since 4.3 was released, and we still don’t have resolution, we have decided to code a workaround so that the app will function as expected.  We have submitted this update to Apple, and it should be in the store very soon.  If you are using 4.3.x, please update to this latest version.

We will post another update to this blog announcing the official release as soon as the app appears in the store, so please check back soon.

Videos Crashing out to “More” Screen on certain apps?

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

Some of our apps for popular YouTubers have so many channels that they don’t all fit on the main tab bar and spill over into the “More” view.  On these apps (CTFxC and iJustine, mainly), it has been reported to us that once a video starts on one of these “extra” channels, it will immediately exit back to the more screen.

This appears to be a new bug in the YouTube player itself.  Unfortunately, we do not control the code that drives the YouTube player (it’s built-in to the device) – but we are working to try to find a solution and/or the cause of the bug.

If we find the cause of the bug, we will report it to Apple and will provide an updated version so long as the “update” to fix the issue does not cause potential issues with future releases of our software and future releases of iOS.

In the meantime, you can use the “Edit” feature on the “More” tab to reconfigure the tabs and move the channel you wish to watch to the main tab bar.  Once it’s on the main tab bar, videos will play as expected without exiting.

Check back to this page for updates – we hope to have more information as we head into the weekend.

As always, thank you goes to those of you who are enjoying our apps and take the time to contact us and let us know when things aren’t quite working as you expect.
