Getting “YouTube Responded With an Error” in our apps?

Sunday, January 26th, 2014

Several of you have reported that after logging in to use the community features, you started getting errors that say “YouTube has responded with an error”.

After digging in a little we’ve found the issue and we are currently working on the solution.  We should have an update soon that fixes this issue.  Stay tuned!

First Round of Updates Approved

Friday, December 20th, 2013

Apple approved and released the first round of iOS7 app updates for the following apps:

  • BlackBoxTV
  • SoldierKnowsBest
  • Unofficial ShayTards
  • Peter Hollens Official
  • Mike Tompkins Official
  • We The Kings Official

We have also already released an update to PhillyD and SourceFed that fixes a bug that could cause crashing on some devices on app relaunch, as well as fixed the YouTube login process for “new” YouTube accounts.

The other apps are still pending release, stay tuned, and enjoy!

So where are all of the other app updates for iOS7?

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013

So – yes, people get busy, things fall behind.   What started out as a hobby for us has turned into something much bigger than expected.  There are hundreds of thousands of people using these apps as part of their daily ritual, and millions have downloaded them – that’s pretty crazy!

We appreciate all of your support, and we read all of your mail.  We know that you want updates for iOS7 – so here is the latest:

All apps have been updated for iOS7 and submissions to the app store are underway right now.   Given that Apple shuts down their review process during Christmas, we hope that these will land in the store prior to the holiday – but cannot guarantee it.

We’re working feverishly to get you all updated to the experience you expect out of your shiny iOS6 and 7 devices 😉

Let the iOS7 / iPhone 5 app updates…. begin :)

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

We are in the process of updating all of our apps for iOS7 and the larger screen size of the iPhone 5.  We are going through each app starting with the most popular, and working through them all.

The first app to receive the fruits of these changes is PhillyD Official.  To download, use the links to the right on the homepage.  The app updates feature the following:

  • Twitter widget replaced with a normal Twitter view
  • All orientations are supported
  • All screen resolutions supported
  • iOS6 and iOS7 are currently supported.  The next update will likely only support iOS7 – so if you have not updated yet, please do.  There are user interface elements right now which are not optimal – but are necessary to support both iOS6 and 7.  We would eventually like to work this in to an app that is better designed to support only the latest and greatest, however 🙂
  • MANY bug fixes and performance enhancements

Enjoy!  We will slowly be releasing updates to the other apps in the coming days as they are completed.

Peter Hollens Official App is out!

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

When Peter Hollens contacted me a few months ago and said that he really wanted to work with me on an app I was flattered — he knew he wanted an app – and loved the workflow that the GeekUtils framework provided. I didn’t know much of Peter before this introduction, but I have grown to truly appreciate his talents – both vocally and creatively. It didn’t take long for me to happily agree to create an iOS product to showcase his content.

Peter has been involved in a capella music since 1999 when he co-founded the University of Oregon’s award winning a capella group “On the Rocks”. In 2010, Peter was featured on NBC’s “The Sing Off” and received acclaim from the judges for his solo performances.

Peter records and produces his music from his home studio in Eugene, Oregon and has recently recorded for Sony and Epic records. In February, Peter released his first full album which is available in iTunes (click here).

If you have not introduced yourself to Peter’s content yet – allow me to introduce you 🙂 Below find two videos – his latest video at the time of this writing (which has already gone viral) – a Skyrim themed video featuring Peter’s amazing a capella talents combined with Lindsey Stirling’s amazing violin performance. The second video is one that I particularly enjoy, Peter’s original song entitled “Sleepwalking”.

Check them out – then go download the app and buy his tunes 🙂
